I’m well aware that this post is likely to entail criticism and objections. As such I won’t write that this is the “best place for dim sum”, not even that it ranks “among the best ones”. There are serious local blogs devoted to this very ranking so I’ll be careful here. Singaporeans are one of the most enthusiastic and passionate people when it comes to food. So let me just say that this honest restaurant deserves your passing-by if you happen to be wandering the streets of colourful Chinatown. Yum Cha Restaurant offers homemade dim sum (or yum cha) which consists of traditional cantonese dumplings, paos (buns) and other pastries served hot in small bamboo baskets (see picture). Dim sum are often served in petite portions and have become increasingly popular to be had as a meal. Choice is endless (like “sesame prawn and mango dumpling” or “fruits and mayo fried dim sum” to name a few), food is stunningly good (you can see the cooks crafting the scrumptious creations every morning at 10am), table service is ok and ambience is proper.
