Bevo Vino doesn’t look special from the street, but it somehow is. Here’s what makes it unique and lovable: - The cheerful staff is made of polyglot wine experts of all ages and styles. Not only can the staff describe every dish on the menu, they can also give its historical background, describe its cooking and recommend the wine that goes with it. They do so with passion and care for what they do. - The menu offers fresh, simple, light dishes: carpacci, bruschette, ravioli. All the dishes are presented in no more than 3 words, which contrasts with the prolix and intimidating description you usually read on restaurant menus… The farro con verdure (see, 3 words! It was easy! 6€) can be described as a colourful wheat salad, with zucchini, corn, carrot and tomatoes. It’s the kind of food you enjoy because it tastes like what you used to have at home when you were a child. - They don’t charge the coperto. You pay for what you eat/ drink, and only for what you eat/ drink. And not for the cutlery, the smile on the waiter’s face, the bread, the access to the toilets or the space you occupy. The place is casual, cool, with people knowing each other, laughing together, saying hello to passers-by. Oh, and it’s tourist–free (until now). Last but not least, it’s located in my favorite area in town. San Niccolò, also known as the artists’ area, is a wonderful district where to wander around on a sunny Sunday afternoon if you ask me. Bevo Vino simply means “I drink wine” in Italian -an appropriate name for this consistent and unpretentious enoteca. Bevo Vino Via San Niccolò 59r Florence, Italy
